Infrared sensor for the measurement of oil film thickness

The exact knowledge of oil layer thickness or oil absence on surfaces is important in many fields of industrial production.
The control of single parts in automotive industry or of whole coils in steel and aluminium industry requires a flexible, fast, easy-to-handle and nonetheless reliable measurement technique.

The Oilsensor NG is the follow-up model of our meanwhile worldwide used oilsensor. Continous optimisation according to the newest technique and standards, and flexible adaptation to specific customer needs enable us, to offer you a top product according to your needs. With our customer service we are always at your disposal.

There is a broad usage spectrum, going from steel mills, where exact initial oiling for corrosion prevention and application of preforming oils are important, to manufacturers, like the automotive industry, where exact knowledge of oil film thickness is essential prior to production processes.

Our oil sensors are the right mean to fulfill these purposes.

An illuminated graphic display shows on first sight all the information about the oil film you need. The measurement results are internally stored and may be saved to a computer/Laptop if necessary.
The Oilsensor NG is based on relieable infrared filter technique. Its little weight, combined with the compact and robust design allow the flexible control of oil film thickness or the absence of oil traces on metal surfaces in almost every imaginable place.

A measurement time of about one second, battery operation, and the comfortable handling allow the flexible use in most different environments.

Our sensors work in the so-called mid infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum between 2.5 and 4.0 µm wavelength. The employed infrared radiation ("heat radiation") is totally harmless, the measurement absolutely nondestructive.

The measurable thickness range is 0.2 to 6 µm (ca. g/m2).
The following standard calibrations are included:
  • untreated cold rolled steel
  • hot dip galvanized steel
  • hot dip aluminized steel
  • electro galvanized steel (autom. detection of phosphatation)
  • Bona zinc
  • Galvannealed
  • aluminium (millfinish and EDT)
Other surfaces are available on request.
The development and addition of user specific calibrations is possible on demand. New software functions allow the development and addition of own calibrations and make the instrument an easily adaptable tool for your application.
